Who we are
Crown Solicitors (SRA number 8011477), of Regus, 1st Floor, Romer House, 132 Lewisham High Street, London SE13 6EE, is the controller of the personal data you provide to us. We are a partnership established in England and Wales.
What we collect
When you contact us or send a case review request, we collect what you give us: your name, the contact details you supply, and whatever you tell us about your situation. In the nature of this work that often includes financial details and an account of something distressing. We use it to assess your matter and, if you instruct us, to act on it — nothing else.
Why we are allowed to use it
We process your data to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, to perform our contract with you once we act, to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations, and for our legitimate interest in running the firm. Where the information you send is of a special category, or relates to alleged criminal conduct, we process it in connection with legal claims.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data and we do not use it for marketing. We share it only where acting on your matter requires it — with courts, counsel, experts or other professionals instructed on your behalf — or where the law or our regulator requires it. The case review form delivers your message to the firm by email through a processor acting on our instructions.
How long we keep it
We keep your data only as long as it is needed for the purposes above and to meet our regulatory obligations. Where we do not go on to act for you, the enquiry and what it contains are kept for a limited period and then deleted. Where we do act, the file and the personal data in it are retained for the period required of a firm of solicitors and then securely destroyed.
Your rights
You have rights over your data, including to be told what we hold, to have it corrected, to ask us to delete it, and to object to or restrict how we use it. Some of these are qualified by our legal and regulatory duties — we cannot, for example, delete a file we are required to keep. To exercise them, write to us at info@crownsolicitorslaw.com.
Complaining about how we handle your data
Please tell us first, so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk, or by calling its helpline on 0303 123 1113.
